Google Announced Chrome OS, Targeting Netbook Users

We know that Google Chrome is a web browser designed by Google to run better with other Google Apps, and to let us browse the web faster. But that's not all Google Chrome is about. Google has just announced recently that they are coming up with the Chrome OS -- an open source, Linux-based OS that will be a light weight system targeted specifically at netbooks.

Apparently, with the fast and lightweight user interface, Google Chrome OS is designed in such a way that most of the user experience will be web-based. This will make it a perfect OS for netbook, which is supposed to be used mainly for interacting with the web.

Here are some facts about the Google Chrome OS:
  • fast, light weight system
  • minimal interface just like Google Chrome
  • able to run on both x86 and ARM chips
  • will support all web-based applications
  • will be available on netbooks in the 2nd half of 2010
