Toshiba NB205 VS Sony VAIO W Comparison

Toshiba Mini NB205 and Sony VAIO W are two of the hottest netbooks released to the market recently. In the following video, you will see both netbooks being put together for physical comparison.

You can see that both netbooks have a chiclet-style keyboard, which look very similar. In terms of size, the Toshiba NB205 is slightly larger but thinner than the Sony VAIO W.

Sony VAIO W Now Available For Pre-Order

The Sony VAIO W series netbook is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. For $499.99, you will get this first netbook from Sony which comes with the following specs:

In related news, Notebook Italia got a chance to spend a few minutes with the Sony VAIO Mini W netbook recently, and have posted a brief hands-on video on the netbook:



While we couldn't tell how well the netbook perform, what we can see from the video is that it does have a chiclet-style keyboard, and a wide touchpad which should be quite comfortable to use. Also, it has a very thin lid, and the design is stylish.

More About Sony VAIO W Netbook

Sony VAIO W series netbook is now availalble for pre-order on U.S. Sony Style website. As expected, it has a starting price of $499, and available in 3 different colors: pink brown and white. Besides a higher resolution screen (1366×768 pixels), the specs are similar to most standard netbooks out there: Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz, 160GB Hard Disk Drive, and 1GB DDR2 SDRAM.

Sony To Release Netbook Named VAIO W

After the overpriced VAIO P mini laptop (which is not a netbook), Sony finally decided to come out with a real netbook that's equipped with a standard netbook specs:

• 10.1-inch screen, 1366×768 resolution
• Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz
• 160GB HDD
• 1GB RAM
• webcam
• GMA 950/W-LAN
• Bluetooth
• 3.5-hour battery pack
• Windows XP Home Edition

According to Liliputing, the Sony VAIO W netbook will hit the U.S. in August with a starting price of $499. It may hit the Europe market sooner as Sony UK has already put up a product page for the VAIO W.
